"Our narrated drive out of the city features wild cypress swamps & crossing the Mississippi River on an impressive suspended bridge. On the Great River Road at Vacherie we visit OAK ALLEY PLANTATION. Guided tour of the famous mansion & free time to admire the spectacular grounds. Driving deeper into the heart of Cajun country along Bayou Lafourche we arrive in Napoleonville, after a guided tour of MADEWOOD PLANTATION house, a delicious LUNCHEON will be served in their elegant formal dining room (see picture above): Salad, Pumpkin Lafourche and Southern Green Beans with a choice of * Cajun Shrimp or * Chicken Pie or * a tasty Andouille Gumbo, Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce & Tea or Coffee. After catching a glimpse of BELLE ALLIANCE PLANTATION, we drive upriver through sugar cane country to arrive in White Castle for a guided tour of NOTTOWAY PLANTATION, the South's largest plantation home, magnificently restored to its original splendor! Driving back to the present and to New Orleans, your guide will tell you more antebellum tales... Driving out to Cajun Country, we go through wild cypress swamps, over the Mississippi River on an impressive suspended bridge, and along vast sugarcane fields, as our guide tells a unique story of the odyssey of the Cajun people. NARRATED BOAT TOUR (about one & a half hours) on winding bayous in remote cypress swamps. Your Cajun guide, also an alligator hunter and fur trapper, shares his knowledge of the swamp including reptile habits, healing plants and exotic birds. After this peaceful ride, explore his picturesque swamp zoo on Bayou Boeuf. "
